1. Torrent sites - Many files are uploaded on torrent sites for anyone to download. Torrent download speeds are incredibly slow. You have to have more Peers than seeds. If you do not have enough Peers to connect to that file, you are out of luck. A Peer is a user with the file. For example, if you have 5,000 peers and 40,000 seeds. Seeds are the users that download the file from the Peer. You also have a great chance of getting viruses, spyware, adware and malware on your computer system. Downloading a torrent will harm your computer. Your Internet provider may track your IP address and take legal action if you download a game from a torrent site.

2. Emulators - An emulator is software that emulates the console game system. The game is called a "rom". The rom is the replicated video game. The rom can be used on the emulator. Nintendo DS emulators are all over the internet and so are the roms. The emulators are free to download but the roms are illegal. Not a good idea to download roms.

3. P2P sites - Sites such as Frostwire have video games for free downloading. Just like the torrent sites, P2P sites are illegal and you can get a virus and other malicious software on your computer system. Not only do many of the video games contain viruses but the games could be fake. Many P2P users have complained that they get pornography when they download on these sites.

Many people transfer their Nintendo DS games they have downloaded onto their Nintendo DS using a SD card. Transferring the games on the SD card does not mean they will work.
